We give targeted support to international students in every aspect of their student journey and listen to their voices and perspectives. Find out more about some of the ways we support our international students.

Our vibrant international community

Every year, we welcome many new international students to our campuses. Our Loughborough family is made up of a large international community with around 18,000 students from over 130 countries/regions.

Support for international students

A top priority for us is making sure international students feel well supported during their time with us. That is why we offer targeted support in a number of areas, such as health and wellbeing support, visa and immigration advice, academic support and more.

Making Loughborough feel like home

We want to support our students with feeling at home when they join us. We have a number of ways that we do this, including hosting specific events for international students, having our own International Students' Network and offering activities and projects through our International Student Experience Team and LUArts - the University's student-focused arts programme.

How the University can support you

Hear from PhD student, Dua'a

A PhD student, Dua'a, recently spoke about the study and social experience at Loughborough University, as well as how the research that is being done at the University is benefitting people around the world.

One thing that I really like is the sense of belonging to a community. The enduring relationships I have formed with friends throughout my time at Loughborough University is something that I will always hold dear. Loughborough University provided me with significant opportunities for personal and academic growth, enabling me to progress and achieve my goals."

Connecting with students after their studies

Our international alumni groups mean international students' journeys don't just end with us after their studies. We want our students to stay connected with us. Through our global alumni community, you can meet new people, socialise and network to support your career.

Our commitment to global sustainability

A part of the #WeAreInternational campaign is sustainability. Loughborough University embraces its responsibility to create a more sustainable planet for the future and seeks to embed sustainability in everything we do, cultivating socially responsible students, staff, alumni and partners.

When I first came, which was in my undergraduate year, we had lots of activities where you meet people, you go out, you have fun. There are a lot of sporting activities so you almost forget that you’re in a new place and everything else takes over. Then, three months down the line, you realise you’ve settled in and you don’t even notice!"

International engagement and impact

Led by Lily Rumsey, Director of Global Engagement, Loughborough University has taken a holistic approach to intensify and extend our international engagement and impact through four main pillars; international reputation and research, international student, international partnerships and international community.

This is a core component of our university strategy and this is led by our International Special Envoys and Global Engagement Team supported by our community of approved educational advisors and agents, and network of International Partners.
