Graduation is a special time of year when we celebrate the achievements of our students. Supporters of Opportunity Scholarships – alumni, corporate organisations, trusts and foundations, and friends of Loughborough – also get the unique chance to celebrate those successes with graduating scholars.
This summer, some of our supporters shared insights into their experiences. One donor, alumnus Anthony Cresci, said:
“When we found out about the scheme, which enabled us to contribute directly to students, we thought 'that’s a really positive thing to do'.
“The scheme is really well set up. You see their emotional development, you see their professional development, and it’s so rewarding.”
Graduates Eloise, Brad, and Issy also talk about how the scholarships have helped them along on their Loughborough journey. Funds have supported them in purchasing new equipment for study or sport, and the scholarship has helped them to avoid the extra financial stresses that sometimes prevail for students.
Brad said: “Without the scholarship, I would not have been able to come here.”

Issy also accessed the activities on offer through the Student Success Academy, a philanthropically funded programme offering holistic and sustained support that focuses on the key transitions in a students' journey. She said:
“We had a few sessions to talk about organisation and how I can manage my time and make sure I got the best out of the University. It helped me grasp my final year a lot better and feel confident in what I was doing.”
Thank you to everyone who supports Opportunity Scholarships and the Student Success Academy at Loughborough, and congratulations to all our graduates.
