Each year, around 50 Opportunity Scholarships are awarded to students at Loughborough, funded by philanthropic donations. As we get set for a new academic year, in our video we look back on summer 2024 as we hear from three scholars and some of our many supporters as they reflect on the impact that scholarships have on the Loughborough experience.

Aman Dhall launches Virendra Kumar Dhall Scholarship for Sporting Excellence for next generation Indian athletes at Loughborough
Alumnus Aman Dhall has committed to a five-year scholarship in memory of his late father, Virendra Kumar Dhall. The five-year scholarship commits £12,500 for young athletes training for sporting excellence in non-cricket sports.

Donations from Loughborough Fund support student participation in 2024 Red Bull Soapbox Race
A team of four Loughborough students, known as Team Tetra, recently competed in the Red Bull Soapbox Race in London. They designed a motorless vehicle to take to the race as one of more than 250 teams in the competition.

We say thank you to donors at a special lunch
From 17-19 May 2024, more than 200 alumni and guests visited Loughborough for the Alumni Reunion Weekend and Donor Lunch. As part of the weekend, the donor lunch welcomed donors and their guests to campus for an update on the impact of their donations, and to hear about the latest news from the University.

Couple dedicate golden anniversary gifts to the Loughborough Fund
When John Marchment met Diane Patrick on her first night at Loughborough in 1971, they probably never imagined that just over 50 years later they would be celebrating their wedding anniversary with family and friends. Married in December 1973, the couple graduated in 1974 and 1975, and to celebrate, they did something very special to give back to Loughborough.
