Co-founder and Head of Business Development, ChargedUp
Charlie Baron graduated with a degree in Management Sciences in 2016. Charlie had previously launched a design agency called InDemand Design alongside fellow Loughborough graduate Forrest Skerman-Stevenson, but their latest venture, with graduates from Exeter University, is called ChargedUp - a company specialising in 'green energy' mobile phone battery charging devices found in venues across the city of London.
Founder, Active Edge Nutrition Limited
Alumnus John studied Accounting and Financial Management at Loughborough University and graduated in 1991. He began his career in finance with Touche and later forged a successful career as a Leasing and Finance Specialist. Following several periods of gout, John decided to quit his job and embark on entrepreneurship.
LOUISE COOKE - Distinguished Alumna (2017)
CEO, Africa, Parmalat
Louise Cooke is a graduate in Management Sciences from 1986. Louise was recognised with a Loughborough University Distinguished Alumni Award for her contributions to the Fast Moving Consumer Goods Industry (FMCG), with a successful career in Marketing and Business Development at Cadbury’s and, currently, as CEO of Parmalat, a dairy company in South Africa. Louise is the first woman in South Africa’s history to lead a dairy company.
GAY DEUCHAR - Distinguished Alumna (2017)
Managing Director, Retail, Accenture
Gay Deuchar graduated in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration with a Modern Language. She was recognised with a Loughborough University Distinguished Alumni Award for her outstanding commitment to coaching and mentoring women in business. Gay spent 20 years as an International Tax Partner for Ernst and Young (EY), responsible for managing EY’s global tax relationships with key FTSE100 clients, and providing strategic advice to Boards. She is currently retired and working as a mentor with the 30% Club Mentoring programme.
ANDREW FISHER - Distinguished Alumnus (2014)
Andrew joined Shazam in 2005 as CEO, and in the last ten years he has transformed the company from a small music start up with global ambitions to a $1billion advertising giant. The London-based company is credited with helping Europe become a leader in audio over the internet and currently handles 10% of all digital music sales worldwide. He was recognised for his outstanding leadership with a Loughborough University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014. Alumnus Michael Hird enjoyed his undergraduate degree at Loughborough so much that he decided to stay for another year to complete a master’s degree in Finance and Investment in 2016. He is now on a graduate program with GE, enjoying learning about various elements of the company across different countries.

Frank studied Economics at Loughborough University, graduating in 1988. Before, during and after his studies, Frank worked within both a fund management and a stockbroking firm. Set on what he wanted to achieve with a strong sense of a future career path, Frank’s work within banking, fund management and stockbroking escalated. Now the Master of The Worshipful Company of International Bankers, Frank shares highlights of his career and some of his experiences.
Paul graduated from Loughborough in 2010 with a BSc in Management Science. The founder of StudentCrowd, Paul is keen to help students make the right choices about where and what to study and is also keen to offer practical learning opportunities.
Senior Policy & Technical Advisor, Transfer Pricing Policy Team, HM Revenue & Customs
George Mylonas studied Finance and Management (MSc) and then Accounting and Finance (PhD) at Loughborough University, graduating in 2018. George now works as an international tax specialist at HRMC, providing specialist advice to HMRC customer compliance teams and international tax training to HMRC staff across all directorates. He also works on transfer pricing cases involving intra-group financial and non-financial transactions.

Paul Philpott graduated with a degree in Banking And Finance in 1988. Jill Ross has been recognised for her contribution to the retail consulting industry. She graduated in 1997 with a degree in Retail Management. Jill works as a Managing Director in Accenture’s UK & Ireland Retail Consulting Practice, and has devoted her career to the retail industry. She has more than 20 years of retail experience, working on both the retailer and consulting sides of the business. Jill is also a trustee for Women in Retail and an ambassador for Be Inspired.
