Science and Engineering Finalists: Don’t miss this event

The Student Success Academy is hosting Transformations: Step up to Final Year, an event aimed at Science and Engineering students who want to get the most out of their final year at university.

Staff who would like to find out more about the Student Success Academy are also welcome to attend.

The event will take place in the James France Building, Monday 19 September, 9.30pm-4pm and includes sessions such as:

  • Returning from placement: Academic writing 101
  • Exploring career options and opportunities beyond graduation
  • Research resistance
  • Technical report writing for engineers

Holly Chapman will also be giving Personal Best: My Story keynote talk on the day.

Holly graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class MEng Automotive Engineering degree in 2014. She secured a Graduate Mechanical Engineer role with Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, which is responsible for the design, manufacturing, testing and racing of Formula 1 and Formula E power units for several teams. Holly has worked in a number of roles at Mercedes and is currently a Senior Trackside Power Unit Engineer supporting the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.

Holly will share her experiences of getting into a competitive graduate position, what challenges she has faced as a woman in a STEM role and advice to current students looking to succeed in similar industries.

Holly’s keynote talk and Q&A session afterwards is open for anyone to attend in person (even if they haven’t attended the rest of the Transformations event), along with being broadcast live on Teams. Sign up for Holly's talk.
