An alumnus came back to campus this week for the University’s Inspiring Minds Day, focusing on Business and Economics. The event, which is organised by Loughborough’s School and College Liaison team, supports young people who are interested in studying at university.

On Wednesday, BSc International Business alumnus Ben Jennings joined three student ambassadors on a panel to discuss various areas of Business and Economics studies, sharing insight into his career in logistics.

Ben, who joined Rolls-Royce on their Supply Chain Management Graduate Scheme in 2017 upon graduation, has enjoyed an extensive career with the company since. He currently works as a Logistics Operations Manager at Rolls-Royce’s Headquarters in Derby.

During the session, Ben was asked about his university experience, key transferrable skills that have supported him in his career, and his unconventional placement year which saw him complete a six-month placement as well as spending six months studying abroad in Hong Kong. He also shared insights into his industry and his time playing sports at Loughborough.

Attendees, who are post-16 students currently exploring higher education options, had the opportunity to ask questions during the session. Being asked what advice he would give to himself now if he could go back to his first day at Loughborough, Ben responded:

“My advice would be to fully immerse yourself. If you see an opportunity to try something, just go for it. Experience everything you can.”

Thank you to Ben for contributing to this session.
