Alumnus takes on UNESCO Chair role for NED University

Professor Noman Ahmed, who has a PhD in Civil Engineering from Loughborough University, has been appointed a UNESCO Chair. NED University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan will be establishing a network on Sustainable Urban Regions as part of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The alumnus is the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Management Sciences at NED University and is a renowned architect and planner.

The title of a UNESCO Chair within the University Twinning and Networking Scheme (UNITWIN) Chairs Programme is the recognition for a passion to advance research, training and program development in higher education within the organisation's mandate.

As Chairholder and Network Coordinator, Noman’s core objectives include developing association and collaboration with national and international universities and organisations to attain Sustainable Development Goals 11 and allied Sustainable Development Goals in general.

As part of this, several workshops, conferences, seminars, dialogues, and capacity development programmes are being launched to train students, faculty members and professionals of the allied industries.
