Paul Wager

April 2020

LU Arts is sad to learn of the passing of Paul Wager. We're honoured that our campus is home to five of his large-scale steel sculptures, with the most recent - Trans - arriving just a couple of months ago. They're inspired by the heavy industries he lived around and worked in during his youth in the north-east of England.

Paul taught sculpture at Loughborough College of Art and Design (now part of the School of Creative Arts) during the 1990s, and was an important member of the 'Loughborough Group' of sculptors. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a sculptor, painter and teacher and we remember him as a generous man of good humour with a real love for Loughborough. All of us at LU Arts send our thoughts to his family and friends.
