Anthony Everson

18 June 1946-18 October 2022

Anthony Everson (Library Studies, MA) passed away peacefully in his sleep on 18 October 2022 at age 76 after suffering from Parkinson’s and dementia for a number of years.

Anthony was born and brought up in Wimbledon where he attended school. Anthony studied Latin and Greek and trained as a teacher of classical languages going on to teach in Glasgow and Worcester.

After the school system in Worcester was reorganised, he retrained as a librarian at Loughborough University and worked in specialist and civil service libraries in London to which he travelled from Leicester.

Anthony became a chartered librarian and maintained his membership of the Library Association (CILIP) for the remainder of his life. In librarianship Anthony found his real métier, he was a great bibliophile with his large collection of books ranging from classical literature and civilisation to the railways of Great Britain. In his last years as his illness worsened, Anthony enjoyed trips to the Great Central Railway in Loughborough.
