Ronald Eggleston

17 September 1939 - 13 September 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Eggleston who studied a DLC in Physical Education and graduated in 1966.

Ronald was a devoted husband of his childhood sweetheart, Margaret, a loving father to Jane and John and a grandfather to their five children.

After leaving school, Ron served seven years in the RAF, prior to enrolling at Loughborough College of Education where he studied Physical Education between 1963 to 1966.

He was appointed to the staff of Teesdale School, Barnard Castle, becoming Head of Department - a position which he held until his retirement.

Ron and Margaret relocated their home from Barnard Castle to Morpeth, Northumberland in order to be closer to where their two children had worked and settled.

Ron was a very keen sportsman and regularly played local football. In later years, he could be spotted on the golf course or at a snooker table, and he retained a very dry sense of humour.

He remained very proud of his relationship and experiences of Loughborough.
