Sport Management MSc

Programme information

This programme prepares you for a career in sport management. It is taught jointly by the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences and the School of Business and Economics.

You will benefit from the expertise of our diverse teaching staff who are focused on equipping you with the skills and knowledge to work in the rapidly expanding global sports industry.

Our staff are internationally recognised for their contribution to sport management research, and have conducted research for a range of respected organisations including Sport England, the International Olympic Committee, and the European Commission.

The Master's degree in Sport Management class usually consists students from around 20 different countries from around the world, so you will be learning from, and with, a truly international cohort.

Strong links exist between the School and practitioners in UK sport management. Students regularly complete assignments and case studies on professional sport clubs and international mega event organisation. Guest speakers present interesting and relevant case studies and provide an opportunity for students to network. Many research projects are undertaken in collaboration with sport organisations.

Candidates with work experience are encouraged to apply, as are younger graduates of high academic quality.

Core study areas include sport markets and industries, managing service quality in sport, economics of sport and leisure, management of human resources, research methods for sport management, sport management: theory and practice, introduction to financial management, marketing management, strategic management, and a research project.

Entry requirements

An honours degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent overseas qualification in sports science or social science discipline.

University fees and charges can be paid in advance and there are several methods of payment, including online payments and payment by instalment. Special arrangements are made for payments by part-time students.
