Postgraduate tuition fees

Postgraduate tuition fees

Our tuition fees cover the cost of registration, teaching and assessments, as well as access to a range of University facilities including the library, IT equipment, and other support services. Our tuition fees do not cover general study costs for books, stationery and personal IT equipment. Additional costs may apply for some programmes, such as the cost of lab safety equipment, field trips and craft materials. To find out if your programme is likely to incur additional costs, please contact the school or department directly.

Important information

Fee status

Your status as a UK/EU or international student will determine the fees you pay, and the funding you may be eligible to receive/apply for. We will advise you whether you are considered to be a UK/EU or international student based on the details you provide on your application form, together with any supplementary information you may have supplied.

You can find more information about your fee status, including how we define a UK/EU student, here.

Bench fees

Bench fees will apply to a small number of students where the proposed research project is expected to incur larger than average costs. The bench fee will be made clear on any offer letter issued by the University.

Part-time and continuing students

Part-time students, or students undertaking a postgraduate Certificate or Diploma are charged on a pro-rata basis, according to the number of credits you study in an academic year.

Tuition fees increase annually, so it is important to note that if your programme is studied full-time, or part-time over two or more academic years, the fee amount for your second (and subsequent) years will be higher. You will be notified of any changes to the tuition fee amount in advance of the academic year to which the fee applies.
