Michael joined Loughborough University in April 2023. He has previously worked as an MSc Course Director and Lecturer in Sport and Event Management (Coventry University) as well as a Course Leader and Lecturer in International Football Business (University of East London, UCFB). He has taught International Sports Business, Event Management, Consumer Behaviour in Sports, Sport Law, Sports Marketing & Sponsorship, Sports & Facilities Operations.

Michael had a professional industry career over 23 years in sports management which comprised senior positions in organisations such as FIFA (FIFA General Coordinator in World Cups), UEFA (Match Delegate), Nottingham Forest F.C. (Head of Football Operations), Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organising Committee (Competition Manager), Super League-Greece (CEO, Director of Competitions for the premier football league in Greece), European Leagues Association (General Assembly member, member of committees and task-forces), ARIS Thessaloniki F.C. (Football Director, Marketing Director) alongside other involvement in sports consultancy projects such as the organisation of sports business conferences, sports academies and beach soccer tournaments. As an athlete he has played football in Greece for the national teams of Greece (U16, U18), the youth teams of Aris Thessaloniki (U18 – U23) and Panthrakikos F.C. men’s senior team.

He holds: PhD in Sports Science & Physical Education (Democritus University of Thrace – Greece, Brand Management for sport leagues and competitions); MSc in Sports and Recreation Management (University of Sheffield); bachelor's degree in Sports Science and Physical Education (Democritus University of Thrace - Greece). He has undertaken academic certificates, courses and executive seminars across various areas of sports, business and management (International Sport Law, Emotional Intelligence, Negotiation Techniques, Finance) while he has participated in many international sports management conferences. Michael has an interest in sports management and marketing research and he speaks English, Greek and Spanish.
