Lightning reveal star-studded squad ahead of new campaign

Loughborough Lightning has officially announced its squad ahead of the upcoming 2024 Netball Super League (NSL) season.

The 2023 reigning NSL championshave selected a strong roster for the campaign aheadwith the confirmed return of captain Nat Panagarry and last season’s Gilbert Top Scorer, Mary Cholhok 

Lightning also welcome two major international new signings as South Africa defender Nicola Smith and Scotland’s Niamh McCall join Vic Burgess’ side.  

In attack, Ella Clark makes her return from injury to bolster Lightning’s frontline following a year spent as Assistant Coach. She will also be joined by Rhea Dixon after her impressive championship-winning debut season 

Elsewhere, Red Roses international Beth Cobden returns following her pivotal role in last season's title triumph, and Bella Baylis steps up from last year’s training partner role to take a place in the squad 

Lightning is also thrilled to welcome back experienced duo Hannah Joseph and Alice Harvey who both return to Loughborough after a strong 2023 season.  

There’s another familiar face set to wear the African Violet dress as Annabel Roddy re-signs for Lightning following a spell away at the newly named Cardiff Dragons.  

Future Roses netballer Jade Popoola will also call Loughborough home to compete a strong team looking to defend last season’s coveted crown.  

Lightning have also added threetraining partners with Alex Johnson, Georgie Brock-Taylor, and Future Rose Freya Henshall all now part of Loughborough’s plans.
