I chose Loughborough after visiting the campus on an open day. Loughborough is such a friendly university and I felt welcome and at home straight away.
What is the best thing about your course?
I love the range of modules we are able to choose from to study. I love the core sociological modules but it is great to be able to choose from other areas too, for example I have also studied criminology and psychology modules.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The teaching quality at Loughborough is excellent. The lecturers are so passionate about they teach and they are always so willing to help students.
Tell us about a favourite project/module on your course?
My favourite module was the dissertation module. I was able to complete an independent research project on a topic that was important to me, choosing the methods and conducting the analysis was a great culmination of my three years of teaching and my placement year.
What kind of support have you had from your department and/or from the University?
The department has provided me with great support, both academic and pastoral. The department and university have a huge variety of ways in which you can reach out for help.
Have you completed/will you complete a placement year whilst at University?
I completed a placement year at the Department for Work and Pensions as a Social Researcher.
What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?
I have secured a graduate role as a social researcher at the DWP. My degree gave me a huge amount of confidence in my ability as a social researcher and gave me the fundamentals of research methods through the first and second year modules.

I would 100% recommend studying sociology at Loughborough. You will receive huge amounts of support from lecturers, the university and fellow students and will have the opportunity to study a wide range of contemporary issues!
