Media Representations of Sexual Violence Against Older Adults. An intersectional analysis of digital news in the UK and Germany

PGR Supervisors: Dr Iris Wigger and Dr Olivia Smith

Hoiling is currently working on her PhD research project titled 'Media Representations of Sexual Violence Against Older Adults. An intersectional analysis of digital news in the UK and Germany'.

In her PhD study, she aims to combine her research interests and fill the gap in academia on media representations of sexual violence against older adults. Her qualitative research looks at how sexual violence against older adults is portrayed in the UK and German online newspapers and aims to examine critically how rape myths and ageist stereotypes intersect in media representations. She aims to analyse the stereotypes portrayed systematically and suggest more inclusive and differentiated reportage.
