Michael has a practice-based PhD in sculpture and has created site-specific inflatables globally, including venues in Australia, Korea, Italy, the USA and at multiple UK sites. He is a Senior Fellow of the HEA.

Ruth Sumner

Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Fine Art, FHEA

Ruth has exhibited widely as a painter and initiated artist symposiums and publications for various exhibitions. She has many years’ experience of teaching MA Fine Art and contributes to UK wide projects that examine and promote Fine Art pedagogy.

Lorraine Young

Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Lorraine is an artist and educator whose drawing and sculpture practice explores materials and sustainability. She holds an MA from UAL and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE.

Dr Ahren Warner

Senior Lecturer in Creative Arts

Ahren is the author of four books of poetry and a photo-novella. His films, installation and painting have been exhibited internationally in public institutions and commercial galleries.

Paul Newman

University Teacher in Fine Art

Paul’s painting and performance explore ruin in historical painting, urban regeneration and psychological experience. His references include Frankenstein’s monster and the Ford Escort van. Paul is a member of Contemporary British Painting.

Alan Duncan

Programme Leader of Fine Art BA

Alan is a practitioner working with lens-based media, with a particular interest in how alternative and historical photographic processes can inform and expand contemporary fine art approaches to image-making.
