Your Responsibilities
We understand how important your UK Student/Tier 4 visa is, so we have provided this information which explains what you need to do to follow the rules for your visa.
If you need guidance or support on any aspect of your visa, you can contact Student Advice and Support and speak to one of their trained immigration advisers.
Documenting your Right to Study
The University is required to hold a copy of your passport and visa as evidence that you have the right to study at Loughborough. If you receive a new passport or visa after registration you must provide the new documents to us within 5 working days of receiving them. If your visa expires before the end of your programme, you will be expected to provide evidence that you have made an in-time application for a new visa.
If you did not have your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) when you registered and collected it afterwards, you must also provide this to us within 5 working days of receiving your BRP and before the expiry of your vignette.
Students with a digital visa should generate a share code, choosing other as the reason for the check and email the share code, plus a copy of the UKVI email confirming the institution and course for which the visa has been issued, to the Student Records and Operations Team.
Contact Details
When you first registered with the University you provided your permanent home address, a term Time Address, personal email and telephone number.
If you change these details, you must update them on Student Self-Service.
If you are taking a placement in your home country and living at home, you should enter your home address as your current term time address.
Attendance
You are required to attend the timetabled classes for your programme. You must use the Digital Registers on the myLboro App to accurately record the classes you attend.
If you stop studying because you are taking Leave of Absence or Withdrawing, you must complete the appropriate form and submit it to your School.
Working while studying
Your visa will usually restrict how many hours you can work. You must ensure you do not exceed the hours you can work in any week. More information about working while studying is available below.
Extending your Student Visa
If you are an existing student and need a CAS to apply for a new visa because you are changing programme, have added a placement year, undertaken reassessments, or are returning from a Leave of Absence, you must request a new CAS.
You will need to upload a copy of your passport and, if applicable, an up-to-date ATAS certificate. Please allow 15 working days for your new CAS to be issued.
