Working with a Prompter

A Prompter will support you by prompting you during the examination. An invigilator will also be present in the exam venue along with the Prompter.

What can I expect?

The Prompter will:

  • Tap on the table or your arm to encourage you to regain concentration
  • Speak to you to remind you to focus, or to move on to the next question, or remind you how much examination time is left
  • Show you a visual cue (e.g. a pre-approved flashcard) to encourage you to focus or move on to the next question.

The Prompter will not:

  • Advise the student on which questions to use
  • Tell the student in which order to do the questions.

For online long window exams, a Prompter can join you on MS Teams for a fixed period within your window. Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity (SWAI) will email you prior to the exam period to advise further on the time slots available for you.

What to do next?

Please visit the Student Self Service Portal (link out) to check your exam support is what you are expecting. If they are not as you are expecting, please email studentinclusion@lboro.ac.uk or phone 01509 222765.

Respond promptly to the email you will receive from SWAI prior to the exam period asking you to confirm your prompting requirements.
