Loughborough Management Programme Frequently Asked Questions
I'm an experienced manager but new to Loughborough, do I have to start at Bronze?
We recommend starting with the Bronze Level, as it’s tailored to Loughborough’s unique culture, values, and processes. However, if you’ve already covered similar content elsewhere, feel free to get in touch with Organisational Development. We’ll chat with you about your previous experience and help you find the right starting point.
I've been a manager at Loughborough for over 3 years but haven't had any formal training, where should I begin?
Bronze is a great place to start. These bitesize sessions cover a wide range of essential topics and give you a solid foundation. From there, you can choose to complete the full Bronze pathway and progress to Silver and Gold, or simply pick the sessions that suit your current needs.
Are the programmes accredited?
Yes! Each level is accredited by the Institute of Leadership. Once you complete a level, you’ll receive an Institute Approved certificate to recognise your achievement.
I completed the previous Loughborough Management Programme, do I need to start over?
Not necessarily. While the new programme includes some familiar sessions, it also introduces fresh, engaging content. You don’t need to repeat anything you’ve already completed (unless you’d like a refresher). If you’re unsure which sessions are right for you, just reach out to Organisational Development, we’re happy to help.
I manage a very small team, is this programme still relevant to me?
Absolutely. The programme is designed for anyone with people management responsibilities, no matter the size of your team. Whether you manage one person or 20, the skills and insights you’ll gain are valuable and applicable to your role.
I'm keen to attend training but don't have time to commit to the full programme, what are my options?
We understand that time can be a challenge. That’s why the programme is flexible. You can pick and choose the sessions that align with your current priorities and create a development pathway that works for you.
Can I enrol myself, or do I need approval from my Dean/Director/Senior Leader?
You can enrol yourself directly using the simple form on our website. While formal approval isn’t required, we do recommend having a conversation with your line manager or supervisor to make sure it fits with your workload and goals.
How long do I have to complete each level?
There’s no fixed deadline for the Bronze and Silver Levels. The programme is designed to be flexible, so you can complete sessions at your own pace, depending on your availability and priorities.
For the Gold Level you will need to attend the 2.5 days with your cohort.
Do I need to complete the Bronze Level sessions in a specific order?
Not necessarily. While some sessions build on others, you can choose the order that works best for you, especially if you're selecting individual modules rather than completing the full level.
Will I be expected to complete assignments or assessments?
No formal assessments are required. The focus is on participation, reflection, and applying what you learn in your role. If you’re working toward a certificate, we’ll track your attendance.
Can I attend sessions from different levels at the same time?
We recommend completing Bronze before moving on to Silver or Gold, especially if you're aiming for certification. However, if a particular session from the Silver Level feels relevant to your current role, you can attend it prior to completing the Bronze – you'll just need to complete each level in full to earn a certificate.
You will need to complete both the Bronze and Silver Level before you can enrol on the Gold.
Are sessions available online or only in person?
Many sessions are offered both in person and via MS Teams to give you flexibility. Check the delivery mode listed for each session when booking.
Will attendance of the programme be recorded in my.HR?
Yes, if you enrol and complete sessions, your participation will be tracked and recorded on your learning record.
