The Change Team was set up by Dr Anne Mumford, Director of Change Projects, in September 2013 and has a remit to improve processes at Loughborough University. Members have been appointed or seconded to the team and are assigned to a wide range of projects, which cut across Schools and Professional Services. Projects are prioritised at a monthly Process Change Portfolio Board chaired by the Chief Operating Officer. To suggest a change, please email a member of our team.
Dr Anne Mumford
Director of Change Projects
Anne graduated from the Geography Department at the University of Leicester with a B.Sc. (1977) and a Ph.D. (1981). Following this, Anne took up a post in the Computer Centre at Loughborough University. In 1989 Anne commenced a period of working on national projects in the area of computer graphics, visualization and multimedia (as these fields emerged) working firstly with the Research Councils’ central support and the Computer Board and then from 1992 with the Joint Information Systems Committee of the HE Funding Bodies. During this time Anne was also involved in the development of international standards for the computer file formats that today underpin the world-wide-web and transfer of images.
In 1999, Anne became the Director of Media Services at Loughborough University and during her time in this role, chaired the national Standing Conference for Heads of Media Services for 5 years and was project leader for two HEFCE-funded projects on benchmarking of media services and on managing print services.
Alongside her Change Projects role, Anne led the operational aspects of the setting up of the University's new London campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which opened in September 2015. The campus plays a key role in extending Loughborough's high quality education and innovation to a new demographic of postgraduate students and professionals.
Dr Sam Marshall
Change Projects Team Leader
Sam graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from Sussex University before completing a PhD in Pharmacology at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. She worked as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry before joining Loughborough University in December 2010.
Sam's interests lie in process improvement in higher education. Whilst in the Change Team she has worked on a range of projects including expenses, claims payroll, student finance and adjustments for students with additional needs.
She has completed training in Vanguard Systems Thinking and has an ILM5 Certificate in Leadership and Management.
Change Team Projects Officer
Steve has a Biochemistry degree from Sussex University and a PhD from Warwick University. After post-doctoral research roles at Warwick and Cambridge Universities, Steve worked in both the Biotech and FMCG industries leading projects and research teams in as diverse areas as anti-cancer drug discovery and pet oral health.
In 2015, Steve joined Loughborough University as the Programme Manager for the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine and has recently joined the change team on a one-year contract whilst he applies for a research fellowship and explores other career opportunities.
Change Team Projects Officer
Bonnie graduated with a BA degree from University for the Creative Arts before starting working in the finance sector.
She joined Loughborough University Student Office in 2014. Later she started a role in the School of AACME as Research Administrator before joining the Change Team in August 2018 on a secondment contract for 6 months. She is currently working on the student finance related project, where she brings over 6 years of finance experience.
Graduate Management Trainee
Adam graduated with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University in 2017. After one year working as a Sports Development Officer with Charnwood Borough Council, Adam joined Loughborough University as a Graduate Management and Leadership Trainee in September 2018.
He is spending his first nine months working within the Change team working on various projects, alongside working towards the ILM Level 4 Certificate in Leadership and Management.
