Confidence through community

The central location of living in Royce means it’s always easy to get to lectures and other university facilities. There are a lot of study spaces available all-around campus that I can access quickly from my accommodation. It’s not just the location that’s convenient. I can get a lot more work done or go to fun social events with the time I don’t have to worry about cooking.

Living on campus has made it easier for me to settle into university and help a person find their crowd. Being surrounded by people encourages you to socialise and chat with others. Through finding friends in your halls and on your course, you’re bound to find a sense of community. I have so many great memories I’ve made with friends doing the most random things at the most random times.

Meeting people in the dining hall is always quite fun. It is also very convenient to have food at set times during the day as it is one less thing I need to worry about. For the days you cook for yourself, there is a food shop very close to Royce on campus.

I feel a strong sense of identity in this part of campus leading up to Royce, it just feels like my area. Every time I reach the food shop it feels like I am home already as if I have just entered Royce. All of Royce hall feels like home.

Safe, close and supported

Living on campus feels safe at any time throughout the year. In halls, I have a support system around me and I know I can quickly get help that I may require in any sort of emergencies.

If you ever need help, the university has a fantastic security team. I once cut my finger while in the kitchen, there was a lot of blood, and I was panicking quite a bit. I called security and they gave me instructions on what to do and even sent over a person to check up on me to see whether I required any serious medical assistance. The person arrived quickly and tended to me in a great manner.

It’s convenient to stay on campus as I am close to my lectures as well as all the university facilities. Loughborough university also has a stellar reputation in engineering, but the accommodation options also heavily influenced my choice of university as I wanted a campus university experience. Loughborough has so many amazing academic facilities and unique opportunities to get involved with, so being minutes away from everything is incredible.
