Catering was great in first year, saving time and helping me meet more people.

In my returning years, I have been in self-catered halls which has been my preference. I have preferred self-catered halls as I had already settled into university and know how things work so I can cook what I want, when I want it, and I know enough people to socialise with outside that I didn’t need to rely on dining halls to chat and meet new people anymore.

I chose to return to halls as I was unable to get a guarantor which was required for moving into student houses in the town, and I couldn’t afford to pay all the rent upfront in place of having a guarantor. Returning to halls on campus offered an affordable solution in a great location which aligned with student finance payments, so I wouldn’t have to worry about finances.

I feel at home on campus. Its welcoming atmosphere, great location, and top-ranked course made Loughborough an easy choice.

I see myself as someone that's easy to get along with so I knew that I would have a good time no matter where I am. Everyone has always been kind and respectful, so I have never had much need to contact the warden during my time here as there hasn’t been any issues.

Being able to request to live with my friends in returning years and getting put in flats with good people have let me see the accommodation as more of a place to relax rather than just eat and sleep. Some of my favourite memories are simply watching football with my mates in my flat most nights and playing games.

The best thing about halls is the location and convenience. Loughborough campus feels big when you begin university, but after a week you realise everything is on your doorstep.
