Formatting and electronic submission
Please read the following information carefully before you begin preparing your portfolio (and for Graphic Design BA a design task)
File formatting
- You are limited to a total of 25 (or less) A3 sheets – please refer to the guidance for your programme for specific limits
- Your portfolio and design task (where required) should be submitted as two separate PDFs
- The file names should be: PORTFOLIO_SURNAME_FIRSTNAME_UCASAPPLICATIONNUMBER
- TASK_SURNAME_FIRSTNAME_UCASAPPLICATIONNUMBER
- The file submitted must be no more than 20MB in size
Reducing the size of the file
To help reduce the file size of a PDF we suggest using one of the many free PDF compression tools available online, or the 'Optimised PDF' function in Adobe Acrobat Pro (we recommend downsampling be set to 96 ppi for all image types and compression quality be set to maximum, with all fonts embedded and all object and user data discarded). Open and check if the file is as expected before emailing as an attachment.
Submission
- Completed portfolios and design tasks should be submitted by email as two attachments to sdcaadmissions@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk , using the appropriate email subject line from the list below.
- Please do not use file sharing software, attach the file directly to the email and ensure that you meet the submission deadline.
- The email subject line should be:
PROGRAMME_SURNAME_FIRSTNAME_UCASAPPLICATIONNUMBER
EXAMPLE: TEXTILES_SMITH_JACK_1234567
You will receive an email a few days after you have submitted to confirm we have received your submission. Contact us as soon as possible if you have any problems submitting, or have not received an email receipt within 5 working days after the submission deadline.
Offers will be made following assessment of the portfolio and design task by academic staff. Successful applicants will be invited to attend a visit day, where you will be able to talk to staff and current students and meet other offer holders. You’ll also engage in activity to give you a taste of what it’s like to study here and have a tour of our facilities so you can find out more about the Loughborough experience.
