Loughborough University has hosted the international Drawing Research Network (DRN) since 2011.
As well as providing a space for debate and dissemination of research through the website and email discussion group, we initiate annual events, which aim to bring together practitioner researchers, artists and theorists from across the globe, to explore the many facets of drawing, in relation to a particular theme. The theme for each year grows out of the current research being undertaken by staff and PhD students who are members of the Drawing Research Group at Loughborough. The DRN strives to be accessible to all and provide a space for a diversity of views. As such, we operate an open call process for our event participation and aim to explore the chosen concept through a variety of research forms and events including academic papers, practical workshops and exhibitions.
