Seafarer Fatigue and Roster Patterns Survey Terms and Conditions

  1. The prize draw is promoted by Loughborough University on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT).
  2. You are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these rules upon entry, and we reserve the right to refuse entry or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these rules.

Eligibility

  1. The prize draw is open to all participants aged 18 years or over except the employees of DfT or Loughborough University, their families, agents, operators or any third party directly associated with the administration of the draw.
  2. You must provide an email address or phone number to be entered into the prize draw.
  3. In entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win.
  4. Only one entry per person is permitted. 
  5. The prize draw is free to enter.

Entries

  1. The prize draw will only include those individuals who have completed the Seafarer Fatigue and Roster Patterns Survey, between the period of 09:00 22 January to 17:00 27 March 2024. Entries after 17:00 27 March 2024 will be deemed invalid and will not be included in the prize draw.
  2. To enter the prize draw, you must complete the Seafarer Fatigue and Roster Patterns Survey, disseminated electronically by participating ferry operators to their staff through their mailing list and by various other organisations with a link to seafarers.
  3. DfT accepts no responsibility if contact details provided are incomplete or inaccurate.
  4. The DfT accepts no responsibility for entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault or malfunction, computer hardware or software failure, satellite, network or server failure of any kind.

Prize

  1. The winner will be chosen by random draw, no later than two weeks after the closing date. 
  2. The prize is subject to availability and is one of 10 (ten) payments of £50 (fifty pounds).
  3. DfT reserves the right at any time to substitute, modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this prize draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside their control or to amend or modify these prize draw entry rules or the prize.
  4. The decision of DfT regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

Winner announcement

  1. The winner will be notified no later than two weeks after the closing date, via the email address provided on completion of the survey.
  2. A representative of Loughborough University will attempt to contact the winner by email up to a maximum of two times. 
  3. If the winner does not respond to the emails notifying them of their win within 14 days of the second email they will lose their right to the prize, and DfT reserves the right to choose and notify a new winner.
  4. If the winner fails to meet the eligibility requirements as set out in these terms and conditions or otherwise fails to comply with these terms, this may result in forfeiture of the prize and the DfT reserves the right to withdraw prize entitlement.

Receipt of the Prize

  1. Please allow 14 days for delivery of the prize or alternative collection or delivery arrangements may be made through mutual agreement.
  2. Data protection and publicity.
  3. You consent to any personal information you provide in entering the prize draw being used by DfT for the purposes of administering the prize draw, and for those purposes as defined within our privacy notice. All personal information shall be used in accordance with the Loughborough University/DfT Privacy Notice.

Limitation of Liability

  1. In so far as is permitted by law, neither DfT nor Loughborough University will not be responsible for, or liable to compensate the winner for, or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury, or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by our negligence.
  2. DfT and Loughborough University do not provide any form of practical or IT support for this prize. On receipt, all responsibilities relating to warranty and the product are that of the prize winner.

General

  1. DfT and Loughborough University reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the prize draw/survey and/or these terms and conditions at any time, without prior notice, where it becomes necessary to do so.
