After the problems concerning plastic pollution were highlighted through the ‘Drowning in Plastics’ documentary, I was inspired to develop work which explore this theme communicating the environmental issues towards the viewer. As my project developed, influenced by artist Aurora Robson, I focused on manipulation the form of the plastics, creating vessels which I explored though photography by integrating water and freezing. Simulating the relationship of plastics dominating the ocean. The outcome layers my three-dimensional pieces forming an abstract interpretation aiming to make the viewer feel as if they are ‘drowning in plastics’.
