Rosy Chetwynd-Appleton

Rosy sadly passed away on 23 December 2022, aged just 35. Rosy was our dear friend and colleague.

She was extremely talented and passionate about her role as a weave technical instructor. She lost her battle with a rare appendix cancer just a week after marrying her husband, Michael Manger. Rosy was a heart-warming, colourful and beautiful person who had a positive connection with so many people.

Her husband Michael is taking on the Welsh three peaks challenge, along with 13 friends at the end of April. They will climb the peaks of Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan in aid of raising awareness of LOROS, the hospice who cared for Rosy in her final weeks.

The care, attention, and warm welcome we received from LOROS, a hospice for patients who sadly are losing their lives, was second to none.

Incredible staff, facilities and care around the clock. This service is also for family members too which helped me and Rosys immediate family ever so much. LOROS relies on donation to provide for the people who need it most.

Personally I was overwhelmed at how caring, attentive and personal the staff were to Rosy. They were kind, supportive and always on hand to help. They were also amazing to me, offered a shoulder to cry on, hot meals and a bed to stay over when I wanted. Just an incredible place and a much needed service which we are lucky to have.

I think people get scared when they hear the word ‘hospice’, essentially because they know what’s on the horizon. However, the LOROS building, gardens, staff, volunteers and facilities are so incredible, it’s important to me that others receive the same quality care that Rosy did.

I want to raise awareness of how important this type of care is. You never know when you, a family member, friend or colleague may require it yourselves’.
