Professional Development (PD)

Individual postgraduate modules can be undertaken for continued professional development.

Many of our 15-credit postgraduate modules may be studied to support your professional development.

Our PD courses also provide a great alternative entry point to study towards our award-bearing courses which lead to qualifications such as MSc, PGDip and PGCert. (refer to our guide to qualifications)

Entry requirements

Choosing to study an individual module does not require any formal qualifications as an entry requirement.

Why should you study a PD course?

Enhance your career prospects

Our PD courses present the most suitable route of study for you if you are an experienced professional without a higher qualification.

Progression opportunities

PD courses may provide an alternative entry point to our postgraduate programmes if you do not have formal qualifications in your area of expertise.

Studying a PD course can provide an entry point for study towards one of our award-bearing courses at Certificate, Diploma or MSc level as the University allows you to 'trade-up' an existing qualification provided you hand in your previous certificate and complete the whole programme within the maximum time permitted.

For example, a Postgraduate Certificate can be upgraded to a Diploma provided the whole programme is completed within 4 years of first registering for the Certificate Programme. Similarly, a Diploma can be upgraded to an MSc provided the whole programme is completed within 5 years of first registering.
