About the Conference

41st WEDC International Conference will be co-hosted with Egerton University, Nakuru, Kenya

9-13th July 2018

Transformation towards sustainable and resilient water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services

Please download our call for papers and other contributions here:

We invite contributions to include:

Oral presentations where the presenter gives a 10 minute talk (with 10 minutes of questions) based on a conference paper and then answers questions from the audience. Talks on three or four similar subjects are grouped together. Deadline for initial paper submissions is 16th February 2018

Espresso' presentations where up to six presenters each give a five minute talk supported by four PowerPoint slides, followed by five minutes of questions. After this there are discussions in small groups. These may not be timetabled in advance and can be submitted before or during the conference, subject to space being available, although due to increasing popularity it is preferable to secure a slot prior to the conference. These are reviewed for relevance, comprehensibility and length only.

Poster presentations where a poster is displayed for all or part of the conference and the presenter is available at fixed times to talk informally to delegates. Videos can also be shown during the breaks in the formal conference timetable.

Side events - are a 1.5 hour slot in the programme. International agencies, programmes or projects share results, introduce new approaches, or consult with the conference audience on emerging topics in the sector, using various formats. We aim to include an exciting variety and balance of topics in our side event programme. There are side event opportunities on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These are in high demand, so we ask conveners to download the proposal form and apply for these by 28th February 2018.

Monday and Friday are dedicated to capacity development workshops. We invite those involved in the development of capacity in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector to join us and demonstrate their skills and experience through the design and delivery of a high quality and relevant workshop, either as a half day or full day session.
