Building up your project budget is a bottom up approach and this session will cover the kinds of things you need to consider when starting to consider your budget for your proposal as well as the costs you can and can’t include. Advice will also be provided on writing a strong Justification of Resources.

This session emphasises the important of co-design of proposals with your team and explains the difference between internal and external collaborators and project partners. Advice will be provided on how to work with and manage your project team including managing expectations and involving and engaging your project stakeholders.
How to write a strong track record – putting your best face forward
Covering the aspects you need to present well to demonstrate your skills and experience to justify why you are the best person to lead and delivery your project. This will also be useful for fellowship applicants. You should leave understanding what you might need to look at in order to improve your track record.
How to write a strong management and governance section for your proposal
This is a section of a proposal that is often not given enough consideration and this session will cover the aspects you need to take into consideration for the management and governance of your project including risk assessment and management, advisory panels, steering groups and overall project management as needs to be described in your proposal.
The proposal Peer Review process and how to respond to reviewer comments
This session will be delivered by academics that have been part of a peer review process and they will provide their own insight into the activities that happen once a proposal has been submitted to the funder. Advice will be given about responding to reviewer comments on your proposal and mistakes to avoid when doing so.

SciVal provides global insight into which academics and institutions are working in particular fields and achieving visibility and citation impact in those areas. This data can be used to not only analyse our own collaboration performance, but also to identify potential collaborators for future research projects. This session will walk you through the process of using Scival to identify collaborators.

Measuring the visibility and impact of your publications is an important step in identifying your future publication strategy. This session will help identify responsible sources of evidence for your publication impact including bibliometric and altmetric sources as well as other qualitative forms such as book reviews. This should help you both understand your PDR publication visibility data, and provide further evidence for the impact of your work.

Ensuring your work is as visible as possible to the audiences you want to reach is an important, and often neglected, step in the publication process. There are many ways this can be achieved: through social media, press and publicity, academic networking sites and profile tools. This session will walk you through some of the main tools and methods available to academics seeking to make their work more visible and will include time for discussion and sharing experiences.
