Digital Communities and Inclusion

Understanding how "the digital" is creating new online communities and encouraging more inclusive community engagement - and exploring who is excluded.

This Research Cluster will examine a series of new, timely and exciting issues related to Digital Communities and Inclusion - generating new knowledge on important frontier topics including gamification and inclusive digital design.  

There has never been a more important time to leverage the rapid advances in digital, data-driven approaches to encourage a prosperous, inclusive, healthy and secure society.

Working with diverse stakeholders - including the DCMS, eBay and The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network - six fully funded research projects drawing on multi-disciplinary perspectives will advance debates and push forward knowledge and understanding on digital communities and inclusion - with clear societal and economic benefits and outcomes.
