Travelling from Birmingham Airport to Loughborough
Birmingham Airport is about 35 miles away from Loughborough University, which means it is a cost-effective option to travel to our Loughborough East Midlands campus.
By Taxi
If you're planning on bringing a lot of luggage with you, then it’s often easier to get a taxi. If you pre-book a taxi, it will cost around £80 to get a taxi from Birmingham Airport to our Loughborough campus.
The UK widely uses Uber, and we recommend downloading the Uber app before you travel so you can easily book a taxi on arrival. Once downloaded, you can enter your destination, see the estimated fare in advance, and pay securely through the app without needing cash.
If you travel by taxi it should only take around 45 minutes to arrive at our Loughborough campus.
By Coach
You can get a National Express coach at Birmingham Airport, which will take you to our Loughborough campus. There is one change, and the journey takes roughly 4 hours. If you are unsure what stop to get off at, please ask the driver.
By Train
From Birmingham Airport you would need to take the free Air-Rail Link monorail to Birmingham International Train Station. You would then need to take a train to Birmingham New Street Train Station and then onto Loughborough Train Station. There are lots of stops involved in this option, and because you’ll have lots of luggage and be tired from your flight we do not recommend this option.
Travelling from Loughborough Train Station to our Loughborough campus
Once you’ve arrived at Loughborough Train Station, you’ll find that there are plenty of taxis waiting outside the railway station. It normally costs around £10 and the journey from the train station to our campus will take around 10 minutes. Alternatively, the ‘Sprint’ bus runs directly to the University from the bus-stop outside the railway station and costs about £2.80. Visit Kinchbus.co.uk for more information.
