Professor of Globalisation and Technology

Associate Dean (Research)

Digital entrepreneurship; Social innovations; Globalisation and information technology

I am Professor of Globalisation & Technology and the School’s Associate Dean (Research). I was previously the School’s Director of Internationalisation (2018-2020) and Head of the International Business, Strategy and Innovation (IBSI) group (2015-2018). I have provided leadership to the School’s initiatives around building internationally competitive and inclusive research teams, setting up research centres, international partnerships, programme development and student recruitment. Before moving to the UK, I lived and worked in three countries – India, Singapore and Australia.

I work with organisations globally. I am currently involved in research projects that explore digital innovations and entrepreneurship and their social and economic impacts. I have published refereed journal articles on globalisation and emerging markets, management of digital technologies, social innovations and global sourcing. I have completed a number of externally funded research and industry-commissioned projects. The UK’s Economic and Social Research Council, UK Home Office, Newton Fund, Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS), British Academy of Management, Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and UK Trade and Industry have funded my recent work.

I have taught undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA courses on the strategic management of multinational enterprises, strategies for emerging markets and technology management. I have also designed and delivered workshops on qualitative research methods for doctoral students and early career researchers in several universities.

I have been active in the Academy of Management (AOM) and Association of Information Systems (AIS) for many years. I have convened research symposia and organised professional development workshops at the annual meetings of the AOM. I have served as Track Chair and Convener of panel sessions for major annual AIS conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems, European Conference on Information Systems and Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems.

I am a regular contributor to international conferences and I have published articles in peer-reviewed scholarly journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Information Technology, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of World Business, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Organization, Omega and Journal of Vocational Behavior.
