Lecturer in Information Management

Dr Boyka Simeonova is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Information Management at the Centre for Information Management, School of Business and Economics, Loughborough University. She previously worked as a Technology and Information Management Fellow at Royal Holloway, University of London. She obtained her PhD in Management at University of London, Royal Holloway. Her PhD explored the factors affecting the way people share knowledge in Bulgarian firms, including power, trust, organizational culture, transactive memory systems, and the use of technology. Prior to her PhD, Boyka gained two Masters’ degrees – an MSc in Business Computing at the University of Westminster, London, UK and an MA in E-Management at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. She acquired a BSc (Hons) in Public Administration also at Sofia Tech. Boyka is currently an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Boyka’s main research interests are in the areas of organization studies, knowledge management, organizational learning, innovation and, in particular, aspects related to the development of knowledge sharing and interactions within organizations. Boyka has experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research. She has undertaken a number of funded projects whilst at Royal Holloway, University of London, related to information security within organizations and the use of social media for organizing and mobilising transformative protest movements.

Boyka teaches on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the areas of knowledge management and information management such as Managing Knowledge in Organisations; Information and Knowledge, Organisation and Retrieval; Knowledge, Data and Information in Society; Business Information Management. She also supervises a number of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations in the areas of knowledge management; organization studies; information systems and management.
