Make your own spectrometer

Dr Glyn Spencer from the Department of Physics shows you how to construct your own spectrometer using the downloadable template below. Watch his instruction video to find out how.

Physics in STEMLab

Filmed during the lockdown period for our virtual open day, this video is an introduction to undergraduate physics showing some of the physics equipment and facilities available in our STEMLab.

Career prospects

Our degrees are designed to equip you with the skills most in demand by employers, as listed in The Future of Jobs Survey 2018 (World Economics Forum) that looks forward to 2022. From the development of core physics skills, substantial individual and group politics, and an innovative approach in laboratory physics, our courses will enable you to develop and demonstrate such highly sought-after competencies as problem-solving and ideation, critical thinking, time management, and leadership.

We have a strong tradition of working with industry and strive to turn our students into highly employable graduates. Students can incorporate a placement year into all our physics courses.
