Dr Abhirami Saminathan is currently a research associate in physics at Loughborough university, where she explores pure spin currents in 2D van der Waals materials. Her expertise includes device fabrication and low-temperature electrical transport.
She obtained her PhD in Physics from Homi Bhabha National Institute, India. Her doctoral research focused on magnetotransport in bismuth selenide topological insulator and superconductor-topological insulator heterostructures. Before joining Loughborough university, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Leeds, investigating the quantum spin Hall effect in gated III-V semiconductor heterostructure devices. Her research interests include experimental condensed matter physics, quantum transport, low-dimensional materials, and spintronics.
