Collaborative research programmes with Rolls-Royce, Caterpillar, Lotus, Jaguar / Land Rover

The Department has excellent links with some of the world’s top engineering companies.

Rolls-Royce UTC

For over 20 years we have worked in partnership with Rolls-Royce developing advanced technology. Research projects are focused on solving a range of combustion system and gas turbine internal aerodynamic problems.

The Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in ‌Combustion System Aerothermal Processes represents a strong strategic partnership between academia and industry. The core aim of research conducted in the Loughborough UTC is to understand the complex aerodynamic processes occurring within gas turbine combustion systems and other related engine components.

Full details of the UTC's people and activities can be found at our dedicated website.

Caterpillar

We collaborate with Caterpillar UK Ltd on research to investigate new technologies for future Caterpillar products. This has led to the creation of an Innovation and Research Centre at Loughborough University, the first collaboration of its type with Caterpillar in Europe.
