Flux Inauguration
Book nowJoin us as we officially welcome the newest sculpture to the Loughborough University sculpture collection.
About this event
Flux is a brand new sculpture for campus, produced by Chiara Brown, Fred Hendry-Briars and Andrea Pocock, all of whom were Loughborough University students when commissioned.
Made from sustainable larch wood, it cuts a striking figure in the courtyard of Claudia Parsons Hall. Referencing the student journey and Claudia Parsons’ solo trip around the world by car (the first by a woman), Flux is also designed to provoke a moment’s contemplation in the passer-by.
This celebration will officially inaugurate the sculpture into the University’s arts collection. It will feature brief introductions to the work by David Bell, the University’s Arts Curator, as well as its creators, who will discuss the process of making one of the UK’s most ambitious student artworks. The artists will also be on hand throughout the event to answer questions.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Following this event there will be a Hidden Gems Sculpture Tour, departing from Flux at 3pm. Places on this tour are free but should be booked in advance.
This event is part of Sculpture Week 2024 - a celebration of our campus sculpture collection featuring online talks and campus events.
