About this event

Join us for a relaxed teatime performance by this year’s Arts Scholars featuring live music and dance!

Join us for this year's Arts Scholars’ Showcase, which features the five scholarship winners for 2025-26. This year's winners come from a variety of subject areas and backgrounds, with a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The evening will include performances by rapper and singer-songwriter Kai Benjamin, dancer Eloise Mair and singer Cath Phillips. Creative writing scholar Neda Abbasimaleki will lead a short session reflecting on what home means as well as taking part in a Q&A to share her work and its themes.

Visual arts scholar Alex Whawell will be unveiling a new painting on the night as well as taking part in a brief Q&A. The new artwork will be on display in the foyer for you to enjoy before or after the showcase.

Each of the arts scholars has received financial support to help them develop their practice over the course of the year and this is a wonderful opportunity to bear witness to the hard work they have put in.

Free refreshments will be served in Martin Hall foyer from 5pm.

The performance is expected to last for approximately one hour.

The 2025-26 scholars are:

Neda Abbasimaleki – Creative writing

Benjamin Kai – Music (rap)

Eloise Mair – Performing arts (dance)

Cath Phillips – Music (singing)

Alex Whawell – Visual arts (painting)
