Canvas of Cultures
Be part of a creative celebration of our vibrant international student community!
About the competition
As part of International Students Day celebrations on campus, LU Arts, International Students Experience (ISE) and International Students' Network (ISN) have teamed up to run a creative competition.
We’re inviting international students to take part in a creative celebration of home, culture, and community by designing your own 15 x 15 cm canvas artwork. Each piece will form part of a vibrant collective display on campus, showcasing the incredible diversity of our student community.
Theme: “Celebrating Home, Culture, and Community”
Your artwork could reflect what home means to you, a cultural tradition, or something that inspires or represents your personal journey. We kindly ask that canvases don’t directly feature flags, but you’re welcome to use colours or patterns in a creative way to design your piece and express yourself.
Top tips
- Acrylic paint works best for strong colours and easy drying.
- You can also use collage or mixed media (please ensure materials are well-secured and dry for display).
- Avoid loose materials such as glitter or anything that may flake.
A special Create & Connect x ISE session will take place on Wednesday 19 November, 2.30-3.30pm in the Collaboration Station (First Floor, Students' Union). At this session you can decorate your canvas and access free art materials.
Book your place at Create & Connect x ISE
