Gopal is a data analyst at Publicis Sport & Entertainment. He has built the tools and models that some of the biggest brands in sport use to decide where their money goes. His clients include UEFA, the International Olympic Committee, FIFA, the Premier League, Formula 1 and MotoGP, as well as major global brands including AB InBev, Samsung, Stellantis, Visa, and Ralph Lauren.

His role is also focused on innovation, particularly looking at how AI, automation, connected audience data and new measurement techniques can change how the sports industry understands fans, measures partnerships and makes commercial decisions. Gopal takes complex data, analysis and technology and turns it into something that senior clients and leadership teams can understand and act on.

On his recognition, Gopal said:

“Being recognised in the ISC 30 Under Thirty is incredibly special to me. Sport is an industry I have always wanted to build my career in, and to receive recognition from people across the industry for the work I’ve been fortunate enough to contribute to is hugely rewarding. More than anything, it motivates me to keep pushing new ideas and finding ways in which data and technology can help shape the future of sport.

“It is a real honour to be included, and I’m proud that my journey within the industry has been shaped in part by my time at Loughborough University.”

Gopal began his route into sport through data. He began his career in data science and analytics before utilising those skills in sport, giving him the opportunity to combine something he was technically passionate about with an industry he loved.

Gopal studied his master’s degree in Sport Business and Leadership at Loughborough University London. He said:

“The course played a really important role in preparing me for the kind of work I do today.

“One of the biggest things I took from the course was the way the assessments were structured. They taught me how to take a complex piece of work, identify what really matters, and communicate it clearly and confidently. I learnt how to present ideas, structure an argument and write for a senior leadership audience rather than simply produce an academic answer.

“The guidance from the professors was a big part of that development. They consistently pushed us to think beyond the theory, challenge our assumptions and consider how an idea or recommendation would actually land with senior decision-makers in the sports industry. That helped me develop a much more commercial way of thinking.

“The industry connections were equally valuable. Having access to guest speakers, industry professionals and people actively working across different parts of sport gave the course a very practical feel and helped bridge the gap between academic learning and the realities of the industry.”

The ISC 30 Under Thirty Awards will be presented next March in London, where Gopal will have the opportunity to meet industry peers. This year’s cohort brings together emerging leaders, innovators and changemakers who are making meaningful impact in the sport industry.

Congratulations, Gopal!
