Harish launched SmartResilience after leaving Loughborough in 2016. The company’s mission is to give sustainability, risk and compliance teams the tools to understand, anticipate and reduce climate risk – particularly as the planet continues to warm. Extreme weather events can drive disruption, financial loss and cause operational risk to global supply chains. SmartResilience wants to mitigate the impact, using advanced climate modelling.
The investment will help to grow the platform, enabling organisations to turn climate risk into operational action. It will support SmartResilience to advance its adaptation modelling, strengthen resilience planning, and to scale across the UK and beyond.
On raising £1.1 million, Harish said:
“This investment isn't just capital, it's a vote of confidence that climate adaptation is the next essential layer of business infrastructure. For years the conversation was all about emissions; now the physical risks are already here, hitting supply chains, factories and farms. This funding lets us get early warning and adaptation intelligence into the hands of the organisations that need it most, faster.”
Harish’s Loughborough studies gave him the basis for his career:
“I did my master’s in systems engineering at Loughborough, and it completely changed how I saw the world. Systems thinking got me curious about taking a different path rather than the conventional engineering career. That degree ended up being the foundation for everything that followed: it's what enabled me to secure early funding, an Enterprise Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering, and support from the UK Space Agency and Innovate UK.
