Emily is publishing two new children’s books

Emily is holding up her new book 'The Blue Umbrella' in front of a shelf of books and she is smiling.

Alumna Emily Ann Davison (BSc Psychology 2003 and MSc Finance and Management 2004) is excited to have two children’s picture books publishing this year.

The Blue Umbrella was published in paperback in February 2024. The story is about kindness, community and a magical umbrella, and is beautifully illustrated by Momoko Abe.

In April 2024, Is It a Seed? is publishing and Emily is thrilled for the world to see Adriena Fong’s warm and magical illustrations. The book is a celebration of the magic and possibility contained within a tiny seed, and the limitless imagination children have.

Emily spoke about her writing journey:

“I hadn’t written since high school, but at university I started writing as a hobby again. I didn’t become an author straight away, there were many twists and turns, as all good stories have, but I eventually found my way to writing for children.”

The Blue Umbrella by Emily and Momoko Abe, is published by Andersen Press.

Is It a Seed? by Emily and Adriena Fong, is publishing with Flying Eye Books.
