To better engage and support our alumni networks worldwide, we have launched a brand-new international alumni ambassador programme.

Your new ambassadors are in post for a period of one year from 1 January 2024 across China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Nigeria, Singapore, and the USA.

Following almost 70 applications, 22 candidates have been selected and will be voluntary representatives for the University and for alumni in their region.

Your ambassadors

In China, we welcome six ambassadors who will support our work across four different cities. They are:

They will be joined in Hong Kong SAR by Ashleigh Vilk (BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology, 2007) where there is an established network of alumni who meet regularly.

In India we have two alumni ambassadors, and they will be joined by a London-based alumnus to support an exciting new network for Indian alumni in London:

  • Srishti Gupta, Bangalore (BA Communication and Media Studies, 2015)
  • Basheerhamad Shadrach, Delhi (PhD Information Science, 2004)
  • Bobby Chouksey, London (MSc International Management, 2023)

Alumna Diane Dorai (BSc Chemical Engineering with Environmental Protection, 1997 and MSc Process Chemical Engineering, 1999), based in Kuala Lumpur will become an international alumni ambassador in Malaysia. Diane has long supported alumni activities in Malaysia and will continue to do so in her new role. She will be joined by Dr Umi Hasran (BEng Chemical Engineering 1997), based in the Selangor region.

Two further alumni will be involved in activities in Singapore. Yee Lin Lim (BA Media and Communication, 2023) becomes an ambassador. Joining in an advisory capacity is Sinnakaruppan Ramasamy (MSc Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Robotics, 1987).

In Nigeria we have appointed three ambassadors across three different areas. They are:

  • Hakeem Otiti, Lagos (BSc Civil Engineering, 1986 and MSc Construction, 1987)
  • Ashley Stewart, Port Harcourt (MSc International Management, 2008)

Finally, there will be five alumni ambassadors in the USA, representing four different states:

  • Katherine Boffetti, Boston (MA Digital Media and Society, 2016)
  • Craig Tanner, Chicago (MSc Sport Management, 2015)
  • Sam Edmunds, New York (BSc Information Technology Management for Business, 2012 and MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, 2017)
  • Yasamin Fozouni, Orange County (BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering, 2014)

What is their role?

One of our key strategic aims at Loughborough is to intensify and extend the reach of our international engagement and impact.

The new ambassadors will support this important area by connecting fellow alumni and by offering their time and expertise to the University. They will also provide advice to prospective students and support our Global Engagement Team with in-country activities.

Over the next year, you can look out for networking events and activities in your area. Your local ambassador may organise events, or maybe they need your support with a university activity.

How can I get involved?

It’s a brilliant time to get involved. With the support of the new international alumni ambassadors, we are excited to be expanding our alumni networks around the world.

Keep your contact details up-to-date on our website so that you don’t miss out on updates, new activity, and events in your area.

The best way to stay connected is to update your email and postal address, as well as checking our website and social media channels. If you have any questions, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch via email.

The current ambassadors will be in place for an initial period of one year. If you’re interested in supporting them throughout 2024, let us know and we can connect you.

Details of any positions that become available next year across these locations or others will be publicised via our website, social media, and via email.

Congratulations to all of our new international alumni ambassadors.
