Alumnus named one of the most influential people in the British luxury industry

Rob Colmer has been named on the Walpole 2024 Power List, which recognises inspirational individuals whose creativity, leadership and skill is set to define the direction of the British luxury sector.

Walpole is the representative body for the £48 billion UK luxury industry.

He has worked at Aston Martin Lagonda since March 2022 as Head of Government Affairs and Sustainability. His responsibilities include government relations, public affairs and ESG (environmental, social and governance), as well as leading Aston Martin’s multi-award-winning sustainability strategy.  

Prior to Aston Martin, Rob spent 20 years working in senior international roles at Shell covering strategic communications, government relations and sustainability. He said, “it’s an honour to be recognised like this by Walpole.  The luxury industry in the UK is full of amazing and talented people.  I never imagined that my politics degree would lead to such incredible opportunities.”

Rob is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and an External Associate at the University of Northampton’s Centre for Sustainable Business.

Rob graduated from Loughborough with a BA in Politics in 1994, and a MA in Contemporary Euro Studies in 1996.
