Alumna takes on challenge to support her placement organisation

Heledd is standing with James Grayson (Ex-Northampton Saints player) and Tom Wood (Ex-Northampton Saints and England player) from Northampton Saints Foundation. The three of them are smiling in front of a banner that says 'Northampton Saints Foundation. Our history their future.'

Heledd Jenkins (Sport Science, Coaching and Physical Education 2024) will be walking 44 miles and abseiling 418 feet in aid of Northampton Saints Foundation.

Heledd was inspired to take on the challenge after she spent a year on placement at the Northampton Saints Foundation delivering their values program. It focuses on teaching the values of rugby through practical sport and classroom-based lessons.

After working with a range of students including SEND, primary, secondary and students in Pupil Referral Units (PRU), Heledd said:

The resilience of the young people inspired me so much that I have now secured a teaching role in a PRU for this September so I can continue working in this area!”

This month, in attempt to help Northampton Saints Foundation to raise money, Heledd has decided to walk from Loughborough University to Cinch Stadium at Franklins Gardens where she will take on an abseil tower of 418 feet.

For the last three months, Heledd has been practicing her walking and has gradually built up to 20km walks. She is hoping to reach 30km in the next couple of weeks. She has been very lucky that friends and family have been supportive and have been joining her to keep her motivated.
