Each year the awards highlight the benefits of studying in the UK by showcasing the outstanding achievements of international students who have used their UK education to make positive changes in their professions.

There are four categories and judges will select alumni who demonstrate that their work has had a significant impact on their industries and communities. They will also look for applicants with great potential to influence and inspire others.

International alumni who have studied at a UK university within the last 15 years (2008-2023) can apply.

The four award categories are:

Science and Sustainability Award - Recognising alumni who have distinguished themselves through their career and achievements in the world of science and sustainability, and who can demonstrate the impact and scale of their achievements in their profession, and beyond.

Culture and Creativity Award - Recognising alumni who have carved a career for themselves in arts and culture, and who can demonstrate their artistic ingenuity, influence and creativity.

Social Action Award - Recognising alumni who have made an exceptional contribution and commitment to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.

Business and Innovation Award - Recognising alumni who are active in initiating and contributing to innovative or creative new ideas, solutions or business opportunities, that have the potential for growth.

Category winners will be selected from different global regions and the most accomplished entrants will be considered for the global awards.

In previous years several Loughborough alumni have been shortlisted and, in 2022, Una Hong (Sport and Exercise Science, 2010) won the Global award for Culture and Creativity. Una exemplified the award’s criteria as she demonstrated a positive influence on future generations of female footballers and umpires in her home country of Korea and internationally.

Applications close on 22 October 2023.
