The alumni duo will join a 12-person Board which governs Welsh rugby.
Amanda, set to be inducted into the Loughborough Sport Hall of Fame later this week, played and coached international level rugby, before taking on a career in teaching and later in sports consultancy. She spent ten years at UK Sport before founding FairPlay Enterprises Ltd, through which she advises organisations on governance, leadership, and equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
She remained connected to and passionate about rugby – a sport she discovered during her time at Loughborough – and in 2021 she became a member of the independent panel which strategically reviewed the WRU Women’s Performance programme. She graduated from Loughborough in 1986 with a BSc in Physical Education and Sports Science with Recreation Management, and with a PGCE in the following year.
Alumnus Jamie will also join the Board. A rugby player who competed 94 times for Wales, he also toured twice with the British & Irish Lions. He won two Grand Slams as well as a Six Nations Championship in Wales.
With huge passion for Welsh rugby – having recently retired as an international player – Jamie is excited to get started in his new non-executive role. He gained an MBA from Loughborough in 2021.
The WRU have sought to improve the diversity of their Board across gender, age, occupation, and a diversity in thought and experience.
Congratulations to Amanda and Jamie.
