Loughborough Football and the “Loughborough Football Alumni” are delighted to be hosting the Annual Memorial 5-a-side Tournament on 20 May 2023.

Initially played in 2000 in memory of Eddie Gregg, a former University footballer and alumnus who sadly died in his 20s from Leukaemia, the tournament has been played every year since and now remembers, mourns, and celebrates Eddie and other teammates who have unfortunately passed, including Matt Pinnock, Mike Hughes, Daniel Wilkinson, and recently, Tom Rankin.

This year will be the 24th annual match. It will also celebrate two alumni, Lee Howarth (Peterborough United) and Rob Matthews (Notts County), who competed against each other 30 years ago in The Championship!

Alumni players - who are 1980s winners of UAU trophies - will join current students on the pitch for this special match.

This year the tournament will be raising money for four charities, Bloodwise UK, Mind, The Willow Foundation, and The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation.

The charity 5-a-side will take place on the Holywell Astro on the Loughborough campus from 12- 4pm on 20 May 2023 and will be followed by refreshments in the Stadium bar.
